Dr. Rita R. Newell was born February 21, to the late Mr. Oscar James Newell and Mrs. Jessie Lee Newell, born and raised in Chicago, IL and  the 9th of 10 children.  She attended Morgan Park High School, ITT Business College, New Horizons Computer Learning Center and Living Word School of Ministry.  From the time she started school, she always graduated in the top 10 of her class.

Dr. Rita openly accepted Christ at the age of 12 and received the baptism of the Holy Spirit at the age of 14.  In 1984, she traveled to Tulsa, OK to be in Kenneth Hagin’s Campmeeting.  She was suffering with a condition in her body from a car accident.  Kenneth Hagin laid hands on her and God healed her instantly.  In May, 1999, she was in a Mother Boyd service in Gary, IN.  God used Mother Boyd’s hands to connect numerous fibroid tumors into one big tumor right in the service.  He operated on her that night so all the doctor had to do was lift the tumor out of her body. 

Dr. Rita has held many positions in the church, i.e., Usher, Janitor, Bus Driver, Choir Member, Youth Leader, Choir Trainer and Directress, Praise and Worship Leader, Armor Bearer, Secretary and Administrator.  She pays her tithes and offerings faithfully and has been instrumental in helping many in the body of Christ through financial hardships.

Dr. Rita accepted her call to the ministry in 1984.  She taught her first message entitled, “You Have Not Because You Ask Not.”  1st John 5:14  She was part of the Fellowship Ministries under the late Dr. Mother Estella Boyd, who taught and trained her in spiritual warfare and birthed out the gifts that God had given her.  She was Christened as a Daughter of Zion under Dr. Gertrude Stacks and knows the value of praying a wall around the five-fold ministry gifts.

Dr. Rita operates in the word of wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, gifts of healing, prophecy, and discerning of spirits.  She has had many encounters with God and God has consistently demonstrated His power in her life.  She is a great encourager to the body of Christ and she loves the Lord and His people.  Her heart’s desire is to see the people of God free to be who He has called them to be in the Kingdom.
